Where We Will Be Staying:

All JDHS Swim/Dive members will be group housed together at the Petersburg High School. Girls and boys will be in separate sleeping areas as usual with corresponding gender specific coaches.

Food From Friday Evening to Sunday morning:

Swimmers/divers should plan to bring pre-prepared meals for Friday lunch (or eat something prior to flying), fuel for Friday’s meet, Saturday breakfast (if not running out to buy it) and lunch, and Sunday breakfast. A pre-prepared meal will likely be one of our only options for food Sunday morning, as all other food options will likely be closed in Petersburg (except El Zerapa which might be open). A microwave hopefully will be available as in years past. There is a grocery store located proximal to the high school where athletes commonly shop for snacks and meals, and athletes will have time after we land to shop.

*Dinner will be provided to all athletes immediately after the meet on Friday night.

As for restaurants, Coastal Cold Storage is sadly closed down, but the coffee shop (Glacier Express Café) opens at 6am and is just down the road from the school. Papa Bear’s is now called Coastal Pizza, has the same menu, and is open noon-7pm Saturday so that will be a food option after the meet on Saturday. In addition, Inga’s is still open, The Salty Pantry should be open (6:30am – 2:30pm), and the Mexican food truck (El Zerapa) will be open and has great breakfast burritos.

Swimmers/Divers Should Bring:

  1. Sleeping gear for group housing (ex: sleeping bag, pillow, blanket, sleeping pad/mat, etc.)

  2. Swim suit, JD shirt, team cap and goggles + towel in your carry-on bag just in case something happens to your checked luggage

  3. Pre-Prepared Meals for Friday Lunch & Saturday Breakfast + Lunch and Sunday breakfast

  4. Refillable water bottle

  5. Homework

  6. Healthy snacks

  7. Toiletries

  8. Approximately $150 for meals and snacks.

  9. Appropriate outdoor gear based on the weather

  10. Form of identification such as a student ID, learners permit/divers license, Alaska ID

    card, military ID, etc.
